John Peters – Managing Director, South West Investment Group
John has been Managing Director of SWIG Services, the fund management arm of South West Investment Group Ltd., since 2013.
After studying a post-graduate diploma in Local Economic Development at Coventry, John spent several years working for a number of community enterprise initiatives in the Midlands, as well as running his own business, before relocating to Cornwall.
He has since gained over 15 years’ broad commercial experience of lending to SMEs in the South West. During this time John has been instrumental in developing SWIG into the largest Community Development Finance Institution – CDFI – in the South West region.
Martin Stanley – Philanthropist, SSE Steering Group
Martin worked in a family-owned telecom business which was sold after his father passed away. With his share of the profits, Martin set up a small charity which he runs from home and sponsor environmental and educational projects and more recently some community projects. He set up a financial publishing company with a friend and also invested in and worked part time in a couple of software start-up companies. When these were sold, Martin moved from London to West Country.
Martin continues to support environmental projects and a couple of local social enterprises including a community land trust.
Dirk Rohwedder – Director
Dirk is the Director of the Dartington Social Enterprise Hub and is also Head of School at the School of Social Entrepreneurs. Dirk joined RISE in 2009, a social enterprise infrastructure support organisation for the South West that took the lead for the ‘Social Enterprise Mark.’ He joined the Dartington Hall Trust in 2011, taking the lead with a remit to expand the reach and scope of its work. With a MSc in Sustainability and Responsibility, Dirk is passionate about eco entrepreneurships – trading for people and planet.
Dave Miller – Programme Manager
Dave has over fifteen years’ experience in the commercial and social enterprise sectors. An experienced social entrepreneur during this time, Dave has established three social enterprises from scratch including as founder and then CEO at Bikeworks – a multi award-winning social enterprise and widely recognised success story.
Dave has also worked overseas in South America establishing a community owned ‘ethno’ tourism business in Sucre, Bolivia. Dave is a graduate from the School of Social Entrepreneurs an Unltd level 3 award winner, Wavelength fellow & Striding Out Future 100 top 10 winner. Dave is involved in a variety of social enterprise projects at a local and national level and sits as a trustee on the board of two UK charities.
Sam Haydock – Co-Ordinator
Sam graduated from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in 1998. Since graduating, she worked for a bead and jewellery company, going from the shop floor to designing the website and marketing materials. She has since worked with Warner Bros, Aardman Animations, and more. In 2011, she joined the Dartington Hall Trust as the Programme Administrator for the school before becoming the school’s co-ordinator in 2013. Sam is responsible for all of the logistics and organisation for the school and its programmes.
